Pirates fall to Wenatchee

WENATCHEE - The Moses Lake Pirates (2-8) opened a two-game mini series against the Wenatchee AppleSox (8-2) on Tuesday. The AppleSox won game one by a score of 8-3 in a game played at Paul Thomas Stadium in Wenatchee.

The Pirates made three runs on eight hits while committing two errors. The AppleSox scored seven runs on nine hits and one error.

Moses Lake opened the first inning with a Ceasar Lopez walk, then D.C. Legg singled to right advancing Lopez to third. Phillip Parrish hit a single to score Lopez. Legg attempted to steal and was thrown out at home.

The second inning had Brock Gates at the plate blast a single back at the pitcher. Gates stole second and was advanced on a Brandon Heurta strike out. Dane Yelovich scored Gates with a single to left field.

In the eighth Tyler Heil scored by walking, being advanced on a Ty Rubio hit and scored on a Dane Yelovich shot to right field.

The AppleSox scored one run in the third inning, five runs in the fourth, and one run in the seventh.

The win went to Wentatchee's pitcher Brian Albert and the loss was credited to Nolan Nicholson of the Pirates.

The Pirates next play at home against the Corvallis Knights on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Larson Playfield.
