Pirates beat Bells in second game of road series
Pirates 3
Bells 2
BELLINGHAM - THE Moses Lake Pirates played the second game of a three game away series against the Bellingham Bells Wednesday.
The Pirates evened the series by defeating the Bells in a classic pitchers duel 3-2. The Pirates scored three runs on seven hits, while committing two errors in the game. Bellingham scored two runs on nine hits and one error.
Winning pitcher Nolan Nicholson threw 90 pitches - 57 of them strikes in his six-inning outing.
Inning one saw Brandon Huerta score on a wild pitch and D.C. Legg scored on a Philip Parrish pop fly.
In the third, Huerta singled to center, advanced on an error and scored on a Legg sacrifice fly. That was all the scoring that was needed to defeat the Bells.
Bellingham scored a run in the first and fourth inning. The Bells blew several opportunities to go ahead, leaving men stranded in both the eighth and ninth innings.
Moses Lake's next home game is Friday against the Kitsap BlueJackets for Hawaiian shirt night, sponsored by the Black Book at Larson Playfield at 7 p.m.
