June Henrietta Mitchell

June Mitchell passed away peacefully on the evening of June 13, 2008, in Richland, Wash., surrounded by her family.
June was born on June 25, 1926, in Crosby, Minn., where she spent most of her early years. She attended school in Riverton, Minn., where she was in the school band on the girls' kitten ball team. She received many awards for leadership which have followed her through life.
She married Glenn Mitchell in 1973 where they were jointly active in many organizations in Moses Lake. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles, a member of the Ladies of VFW and also the Ladies of the Moose.
June worked in a variety of positions in processing, lab technician, and scaling at Carnation Company until she retired in 1989 after 23 years of service. After retirement, June enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed doing art and craft projects which she gave to her family, friends and favorite charities. Her favorite activity was going to the casino with her very close friend Jan. June was diagnosed with a serious life-threatening condition two years ago and has spent her time fighting this with the aid of her close friends. June had many special friends in her life such as Theloa, Mary and Catherine. She considered Tom Allen a special angel who helped her with so many challenges in her life, especially the past few years. She always expressed her appreciation for his kindness.
June is preceded in death by her father Edward Norgard, mother Eva Martinson, brother Edward Norgard and sister Violet Ekman. She is survived by her husband Glenn R. Mitchell, brother William Norgard, daughters Bonnie Kahananui and Linda Bruce, sons Ralph Dillon, Dan Bishop and Randy Dillon.
June has seven grandchildren, Lynnette Ekman, David Knox, Wendy Sheets, James Bruce, Matthew Dillon, Heather Bruce and Crystal Wiberg. She is blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and various nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her entire extended family.
Viewing will be Thursday, June 19, at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home located at 1401 S. Union Street in Kennewick with Funeral Services beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday. There will be a reception at Mueller's Tri-Cities following interment.
