Howard Raymond (Doc) Bentley

Howard Raymond (Doc) Bentley was born Feb. 20, 1916, at Eaton Rapids, Mich., and passed away on June 4, 2008, at Moses Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis of 56 years and his son John. He is survived by his daughters, Marty Yearout and Penny Coppersmith, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1935 and proudly served in the Army during WW II. He moved with his family to Quincy in 1949 working as a master carpenter, and was proud to have worked on many "dam projects" including Rock Island, Rocky Reach, Grand Coulee, Wanapum and Priest Rapids.

Doc was an active Mason since 1944, mostly in the Quincy Lodge. He and Phyllis were both active in the Quincy Senior Center, the Ephrata Senior Center and most recently the Moses Lake Senior Living Community where he was president of the residents council.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Moses Lake Senior Living Community, 8425 Aspi Blvd, N.E., Moses Lake.

Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Quincy Senior Center, 522 F Street S.E., Quincy, WA 98848.

Our thanks to all of his health care providers over the last few months; he will be greatly missed by all.
