MOSES LAKE - A 17-year-old boy was allegedly struck in the face Thursday night with a broken beer bottle during a possible gang fight near Moses Lake.

A 19-year-old Moses Lake man, Randal Richard Collier, was arrested in connection with the fight reportedly involving several people at 11:40 p.m., Grant County Chief Deputy John Turley told the Columbia Basin Herald Friday afternoon.

Collier was booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault after several people with bats, knives and chains were reportedly seen fighting on Vandenberg Loop near Moses Lake.

An investigating deputy said the people reportedly got out of their cars and started beating on one another, Turley said.

Witnesses said a physical assault escalated and got out of control, Turley said.

A vehicle described to dispatch was found leaving the scene and stopped by deputies, he said.

Four 17-year-old males and two men, ages 18 and 19, were contacted by deputies during the investigation, Turley said. One of the males was a witness, he said.

He added it's hard to say how many people were originally at the scene before deputies arrived.

The 17-year-old boy who was allegedly injured with the beer bottle was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for medical treatment. Further information about the unnamed juvenile was unavailable.
