Moses Lake fire burns less than one acre

MOSES LAKE - A fire behind residential Carswell Drive near Moses Lake burned less than an acre of sagebrush off Highway 17 Thursday afternoon.

No buildings were damaged in the fire, which started near a back yard at 227 Carswell Drive, said Grant County Fire District No. 5 Battalion Chief Rick Wentworth.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 11:48 a.m. and returned to the station about 2 p.m., he said.

The cause of the fire was undetermined and there was no dollar loss reported, he said.

The sound of a pop like a firecracker was reportedly heard in the neighborhood before the fire, he said.
