| June 13, 2008 9:00 PM

Julie Ann Wilks Pollard passed away June 10, 2008, after bravely battling lung cancer for more than two years.

Julie was born March 27, 1958, in Ogden, Utah. She was the first child of Rex Glenn Wilks and Bonnie Joyce Tolley.

Julie grew up in Royal City and graduated from Royal High School. She received her Associate of Arts and Science degree from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake in 1985.

Julie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Washington University in 1987 and began her life-calling as a teacher. That same year, she started teaching first-graders in the Lake Washington School District and after receiving her master's degree from Brigham Young University in 1994, she returned to teaching in the Lake Washington School District.

Julie was a shining light and guide to hundreds of children in 18 years, but her crowning joy was her own children. She loved spending time with her children, family, and her dachshunds. She enjoyed movies, traveling, and creating a beautiful home and garden. Her two favorite places to visit were Disneyland and Seaside, Ore.

Julie dearly loved her family and many friends. Julie made an impression on everyone she met as they were immediately taken with her infectious giggle and passion for life. She inspired so many with the way she lived her life-with love, laughter, and determined courage.

Julie was a member of the Rose Hill Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions within the church, most recently as a leader in the Young Women program.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Rex Glenn Wilks. She is survived by her two sons and their wives: Robert and Jennifer Pollard and Barton and Jill Pollard; her daughter, Mackenzie Pollard; and her grandson, Asher Pollard. She is also survived by her mother, Bonnie; her sisters, Joan Hicks and Allien Wilks; her brother, Preston Wilks and sister-in-law, Marni Wilks; and a large extended family.

Services will be held Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at the Bellevue Stake Center at 14536 Main Street, Bellevue, Wash.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Julie Pollard Cancer Fund at Bank of America.
