Helen Ann Mize

| June 13, 2008 9:00 PM

Helen, "Mimi," our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away exactly as she wished … peacefully, with the love of her life, husband Woody, by her side. She lived 88 years and made her heavenly journey to God on June 9, 2008.

She was born Helen Ann O'Neil to Frank and Gertrude O'Neil on Oct. 10, 1919. She was raised in the "big brown house" at Lowman Beach and attended Holy Rosary School through tenth grade. She graduated in 1937 from Holy Names Academy and then attended Seattle University.

Helen loved being with her family and never tired of hearing stories about them. She was always very caring and supportive of everyone and had many unique gifts, living life with poise and dignity. She loved being a travel agent and enjoyed traveling to all corners of the world. We were warmed by her charm. We will greatly miss her guidance, love and tremendous spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clarence "Woody" Mize; her daughters Gretchen Hayden, Michele Kittrell and Wendy Carothers; sons-in-law Greg Kittrell and Tim Carothers; grandchildren Kiera and Bryan Mann, Cambria and Barret Claunch, Matthew, Sarah, Cade, Kelsey and Kyle Kittrell, Shane, Lana and Neal Carothers and her great-grandchildren Devlin (DJ), Jeremy and Cali Mann; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her Rosary will be held on Sunday, June 15 at 7 p.m. at the Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home, 3909 S.W. Alaska St., Seattle, WA 98116. A Memorial Service and reception will be held on Monday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 861 S.W. 126th St., Seattle, WA 98146. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. Remembrances may be made in memory of Helen Mize to the Salesian Missions, 2 Lefevre Lane, New Rochelle, NY 10801-5710.
