WCCBL opens fourth season today
Pirates to host Spokane RiverHawks Friday
WENATCHEE - The West Coast Collegiate Baseball League's 2008 season opens today with four of the league's eight teams in action.
The Kelowna Falcons host the Bellingham Bells at Elks Stadium and the Corvallis Knights visit the Kitsap County Fairgrounds to take on the Kitsap BlueJackets.
Four other clubs begin the league's fourth campaign on Friday as the Bend Elks travel to Wenatchee to meet the AppleSox at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium and the Spokane RiverHawks visit the Moses Lake Pirates at Larson Playfield. The Pirates are WCCBL defending champions.
Corvallis opens its home schedule at the newly expanded Goss Stadium Tuesday against Spokane while that same night Bellingham hosts Moses Lake in its home opener at Joe Martin Stadium. Bend's home opener at Vince Genna Stadium is Friday, June 20 against Spokane while the RiverHawks don't open at home until Monday, June 23 against Corvallis at Avista Stadium.
