Pirates continue winning streak

Pirates 8, Athletics 1

MOSES LAKE - The 2007 WCCBL Champion Moses Lake Pirates continued their five game winning streak by pounding the Athletics of Olympia 8-1 in the second of a three game preseason series.

In a game Pirate's owner Brent Kirwan called "fantastic" the Pirates pummeled the Athletics by scoring eight runs on eight hits and no errors. Olympia could only muster one run on four hits and made four errors.

The player of the game was Ty Rubio. Rubio was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RIBS and scored twice.

The Pirates wind up the preseason tonight at Larson Playfield with a salute to paper carriers on Columbia Basin Herald Night. Gates open at 6 p.m. and game time is 7:30.
