Louella M. Brooks

| June 12, 2008 9:00 PM

Louella M. Brooks, known to family and friends as "Sis" was called to heaven on June 4, 2008. God must've needed a helper suddenly, as she passed swiftly, surrounded by loved ones.

Sis was born on Feb. 2, 1916, in Withrow, Wash., to Thomas and Ida Hansen. The family later moved to Moses Lake in 1925 and to the present homestead in 1928 where Sis resided. She worked as a nanny, bus stewardess, Navy clerk and ultimately for the telephone company for 34 years before retiring in 1976. She'll be remembered by many as the "barber" of the family, for her popcorn balls, and as a seamstress with a fresh pot of coffee always on. Her love of the color purple was widely known and you could always spot her tools as she painted them purple too. She leaves behind her brother Claire Hansen, son David Hussey, daughter Shannon (Bruce) Lee, grandchildren David (Sara) Hussey, Heidi Hussey, Shanna Seholm, Jerry Lee, together with great-grandkids and numerous nephews and nieces. Per her request, a wake will be held at the Mae Valley homestead on Saturday, June 14 beginning at 2 p.m. with a toast at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are requested to bring a written remembrance to put on our "memory board" so that all can share in the celebration of her life.
