Candidates for office are declared

COLUMBIA BASIN - Several people filed for candidacy in various elected offices in Adams and Grant County last week.

The deadline to file passed Friday at 5 p.m. Candidates had one week to file to run for elected office.

Adams County

Adams County Commissioner Rudy Plager and challenger John N. Marshall filed for commissioner position one.

Adans County Commissioner Roger Hartwig filed for re-election to position two and is unopposed.

Judge Richard W. Miller filed for the Adams County Superior Court judge position one and is unopposed.

Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville, filed for the 9th Legislative District senator position and is unopposed.

The 9th Legislative District includes Adams, Asotin, Franklin, Garfield, Spokane and Whitman counties.

Rep. Steve Hailey, R-Mesa, and challenger Kenneth E. Caylor, D-Othello, filed for state representative position one.

Rep. Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, challenger Tyana Kelley, D-Pullman, and Green Party candidate challenger Christopher Winter, of Clarkston, filed for state representative position two.

Grant County

Grant County Commissioner Richard Stevens filed for commissioner position one and is unopposed.

Grant County Commissioner LeRoy Allison and challenger Carolann Swartz filed for position two.

Grant County Public Utility District Commissioner Randy Allred and challegner Don Long filed for position three.

Grant County PUD Commissioner Tom Flint, and challengers Sam Johnson and Don Schmauder filed for position A at large.

Judge Evan Sperline filed for judge position one with the Grant County Superior Court and is unopposed.

Attorney Douglas Anderson and Grant County Prosecutor John Knodell filed for position two.

Judge John Antosz filed for position three and is unopposed.

Rep. Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake, filed for representative position one with the 13th Legislative District and is unopposed.

Rep. Bill Hinkle, R-Cle Elum, filed for position two and is unopposed.

The 13th Legislative District includes Grant, Kittitas and Yakima counties.

Congressman Doc Hastings, R-Moses Lake, and challengers George Fearing, D-Richland, and challenger Gordon Allen Pross, of Ellensburg, filed for the 4th Congressional District.

The 4th Congressional District includes Adams, Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Franklin, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Skamania and Yakima counties.
