Robert (Bob) W. Holloway
1931-2008
Robert (Bob) W. Holloway was born Aug. 13, 1931, to Earl R. Holloway and Ruby Cope Holloway in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was raised and educated there, graduating in 1949. Following graduation, Robert enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict until the armistice was signed. Robert married Agnes Goodwin in 1953 and soon thereafter began farming operations in the new Columbia Basin Project. As his potato operations prospered, Bob began building potato storages and eventually led to real estate investments in Moses Lake and Arizona.
Robert was involved in community activities and upon retiring from farming, extended his involvement both locally, as a trustee of Big Bend Community College, and further on various foreign mission projects. He was a driving force in the creation of IPCI (International Polyol Chemicals Inc.) and made many trips abroad to Africa, Iceland and China, to mention a few, promoting international development of 'green' chemical energy technology.
Bob's passion for flying was evidenced from childhood and although he served in the Air Force, Bob didn't start flying until 1959. His final flight was in his Challenger 2 over the Columbia Basin area on May 31, 2008.
Robert is survived by wife Agnes Holloway, Ephrata, daughter Cindy Robledo, Mead, Wash., three grandsons James and Jonathan Robledo both in Kennewick, Wash., and Ben Robledo, Mead, Wash., mother Ruby Holloway, Quincy and sister Betty Kersting, Santa Fe, N.M.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 6 at the Quincy Cemetery and a Life Celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday June 7 at Big Bend Community College's ATEC building. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Big Bend Community College Foundation, 7662 Chanute St N.E., Moses Lake, WA 98837.
