RENTON - The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association has presented its most prestigious award for the 2007-08 school year to six schools in the state of Washington. The Wells Fargo Scholastic Cup is a year-long program designed by the WIAA and awarded to the top school in each of the six WIAA classifications.

The Wells Fargo Scholastic Cup rewards excellence in academics, sportsmanship and athletic performances throughout the school year.

In an ongoing effort to promote sportsmanship, the Association incorporates a sportsmanship component into the award. Schools receive points for displaying outstanding sportsmanship throughout the year. Schools with no more than one student or coach ejection in all varsity sports for the year receive 25 points. Schools lose points on a progressive basis for the second, third and fourth player or coach ejection. Accumulating five or more ejections disqualifies a school from competition.

The six winners of the Wells Fargo Scholastic Cup are:

4A Mead

3A Newport (Bellevue)

2A Sehome

1A King's

2B St George's

1B Odessa
