Race fans to get double dose of action

EPHRATA - Fans attending the races this Saturday at Ephrata Raceway Park are expected to get a double dose of action.

In addition to five classes of racecars on the track, the evening will be highlighted with a Freestyle Motocross exhibition put on by Beau "The Basher" Bamburg and Torin McIntyre. Both riders will be flying over the 75 foot distance between launch ramp and landing area in the infield of the quarter-mile paved racing oval.

During intermission, it is expected that Bamburg and McIntyre will perform some of the same aerial acrobatics that Freestyle Motocross is known for. Bamburg in particular should be well known to those that follow the sport.

The Gresham, Ore. native is known for stretching everything out a bit too much and holding on a bit longer than necessary. Bamburg is one of those guys who always looks like he's pushing it too far, which makes the reward that much sweeter when he pulls it out after all, according to MX Illustrated. Bamburg has been a professional Freestyle MX rider since 2003, winning over 25 events and has been a fixture at the X Games since its inception.

McIntyre hails from Lake Stevens, Wash., and has been riding for our years. Last Saturday night at Ephrata Raceway Park he thrilled a big crowd for 15 minutes with a glimpse of what they can expect this Saturday. He executed a number of off-the-bike jumps from one ramp to the other that had spectators on their feet. McIntyre signed autographs for 20 minutes later in the night and visited with many of the fans in attendance.

On the racetrack, the five classes that will be racing are the Kim Janke State Farm Agent Youth Hornets, Ephrata Pioneer Muffler II Adult Hornets, Mini Stocks, Jerry's Auto Supply Hobby Stocks and the Big Cars.
