Juvencio P. Hernandez

Juvencio P. Hernandez, 89, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Samaritan Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at the Moses Lake Assembly of God Church, 431 E. Brown Ave with Rev. Mike Alvarado, Rev. Ruben Hernandez and Rev. Camilo Hernandez officiating.

Viewing will take place at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, Wash.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. You may sign the guest book or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to El Sendero De La Cruz Building Fund, P.O. Box 968, Moses Lake, WA 98837.

Juvencio Hernandez Pinalez was born July 19, 1918, in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and died Sunday June 1, 2008, in Moses Lake.

He was preceded in death by both parents Pablo Hernandez and Maria Luz Pinalez; two brothers Pedro and Francisco; and four sisters Francisca, Dolores, Josefina and Agrepina. He is survived by his wife Rosaria; four brothers: Nieves, Estanislado, Juan, Ruben; four sons Cornelio, Camilo, Juvencio II, and Ricardo; seven daughters, Maria Dominga, Alicia, Tomasa, Mary, Ruth, Rosa, and Yolanda; 15 grandsons, 16 granddaughters, 24 great-granddaughters, 17 great-grandsons, and one great-great-grandson.

He worked for Burlington Railroad, So. Pacific Railroad, and Pennsylvania Railroad, and was given the nickname "JP" by his coworkers and friends. He farmed locally in Grant County and to many he was known as the "Watermelon Man" out on Block 40. He was a distinguished and much loved member of the "El Sendero De La Cruz" church since moving here to Moses Lake in 1966.
