Nellie Nadine (Olsen) Ostler passed away peacefully at her home on July 28, 2008. She was born on Jan. 5, 1934, in Firth, Idaho, the oldest of five children of Daniel Foss and Libbie Elsie Olsen.

She was married to her former husband Glenn L. Ostler Sr. in 1952 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple, and became the devoted mother to a family of seven children which she raised while living in Moses Lake, Provo Utah, Cedar City, Utah, and in Richland, Wash.

She graduated with a degree in education from Brigham Young University in 1966 and taught elementary school for a short time, with many years to follow teaching LDS Seminary classes.

She was always active in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities of her boys and helped all five to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. All eligible grandsons have also achieved this status.

For 15 years she was in charge of the LDS Tri-Cities Regional Bishops Storehouse where she helped feed many needy families throughout Southeastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon.

Those who knew her understand that music was an important part of her life. In her youth she played the piano and organ for several churches and was highly involved in high school music. She was always active in church music and in teaching piano to hundreds of youth. She taught all of her children to play the piano and organ, along with several other instruments. She was an avid promoter of the arts and other fine culture within her family.

As an active member of her faith, she always had deep beliefs and strong values which she has passed on to her family. Her capacity and talents for teaching and learning were evidenced by her library and her love for learning. She was an avid reader and a never-ending student. She inspired all within her influence to improve their intellects and to become accomplished in life. Perhaps the greatest evidence of these aptitudes is the considered accomplishments of her offspring.
