Parks and Rec hold camps

Department offers summer camps to Columbia Basin youth

MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Department released its schedule of events for August.

Bowling

Youth bowlers ages 6-years-old to 14-years-old have an opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of bowling.

This includes the grip, stance, swing and the four step delivery from Lake Bowl instructor Billy Brice and staff.

Cost for the camp is $35 and the session is from August 4-8. Registration fees includes shoe and ball rentals.

Martial Arts

Martial arts skills will be taught at Chief Moses Middle School on Monday and Wednesday nights between August 4 and 27 by instructor Wayne Johnson.

This no contact class will instruct students ages 12 and older how to defend themselves though mind and body conditioning.

The class also teaches punches, kicks, blocks and ground fighting techniques. Basic Judo throws will also be included in the camp.

The cost for the martial arts camp is $25.

Karate

Registration for Tiny Tiger karate class for youths between 5- and 8- years old is open. The learning center on S. Balsam is the location for the camp that teaches traditional karate curriculum.

This curriculum focuses on respect, and attribute development such as hand-eye coordination and flexibility to a healthy lifestyle. The camp takes place on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. starting Aug. 3 and ending Aug. 26.

Cost for this camp is $35 per student.

The class is taught by karate instructor Cory Minatani.
