ROYAL CITY - During a vehicle pursuit an Othello man crashed his vehicle leading to a fire and an arrest Saturday night near Royal City.

A Washington State Patrol trooper was reportedly pursuing Jesus Castaneda Santana, 22, Othello, on Road E Southwest, the state patrol stated Tuesday. Castaneda Santana was driving a 1999 Kia Sephia.

The trooper was following Castaneda Santana northbound when the roadway surface turned to gravel. The suspect reportedly lost control of the vehicle and rolled, leading to the vehicle catching fire, the state patrol advised.

After treatment he was transported to Grant County Jail and was booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, no valid operator's license, eluding and reckless driving.

The trooper was not injured.
