ELECTRIC CITY - A personal watercraft and boat collided in the north end of Banks Lake near Steamboat Rock State Park, killing a Tacoma man driving the personal watercraft.
The personal watercraft driver, Victor Prokhor, age unknown, was given CPR and taken to Coulee Community Hospital in Grand Coulee, the Grant County Sheriff's Office stated. Prokhor was pronounced dead just before 10 a.m. Friday.
The passenger of the personal watercraft, Olga Prokhor, was hospitalized and listed in serious but stable condition on Friday.
Hospital staff declined to release information about her condition on Sunday. An employee at the nurse's station deferred comments to an employee who wasn't immediately available.
Witnesses told deputies the personal watercraft allegedly struck a boat with six passengers. The boat was also pulling an inner tube with three riders.
The collision caused four of the boat's passengers to be thrown into the water, which included three young children and a 16-year-old girl. They were wearing life jackets, treated for minor injuries and released from medical care.
