Body found floating in lake near Quincy

Man's identity not released

QUINCY - A man was found floating in Evergreen Lake near Quincy Saturday night.

The identity of the man was not available Sunday due to law enforcement responding to a several-hundred-acre wild land fire near Mar Don Resort.

The man was on a several-day camping trip, Grant County Undersheriff John Turley said. The man's family contacted law enforcement after they hadn't heard from him.

His fishing pole was located in the water, the fish he caught were located and rotted and his campsite was undisturbed, he said. As law enforcement searched the area, the body was found approximately 1,000 feet from the campsite in the lake.

It is unclear how the man drowned and an official cause of death is to be determined.
