Othello to supply water to county development
Up to 70 units to be built
OTHELLO - Othello City Council approved an extra territorial utility extension agreement to provide water to a future residential development Monday.
The residential development is located on the south side of Bench Road, west of state Route 24, City Administrator Ehman Sheldon said. It will feature up to 70 multi-family units on 26 acres.
The development is located outside the city limits so developer Don Gentry will be required to pay 150 percent of the cost for city water to receive service, Sheldon said. Other people living outside the city limits who use city water also pay 150 percent of the cost.
The contractor will construct the water line from city services to the development, according to a city document. The water demand is expected to be 300 gallons per day, per unit.
Councilmembers Ken Johnson, Ken Caylor, Tim Wilson, Marc Spohr, Dan Dever and Mark Snyder voted in favor of the agreement.
Councilmember Eleanor Brodahl voted against the agreement.
Mayor Shannon McKay was absent from the meeting.
