Fought takes ERP midseason title
EPHRATA - The Ephrata Raceway held its Mid Season Championships Saturday night under the park lights.
The capacity crowd braved the blistering summer heat to watch more than 70 cars take to the track, race announcer Kelly Hart said.
"A big, six-class show greeted one of the largest crowds of the season on one of the hottest days of the year," he said.
The open-wheel speedsters of the Ephrata Raceway Park 360 Sprints dominated the weekend action, in a format racers which racers compete in two main events. Points earned in each race were added together to determine an overall winner.
Mike Fought of Othello won the first 25-lap event. After battling Doug Peter for six laps during the second 25-lap event, Fought passed Peter, locking up the race and championship for the evening.
