Moses Lake wins second game after falling to Walla Walla

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Sun Devils of the American Legion Junior league split a home doubleheader with Walla Walla Saturday in Moses Lake.

The Sun Devils dropped the first game 4-1, before rebounding to win the second game 4-3.

"Overall we played pretty good," substituting manager Jeremy Vasquez said.

Sun Devils manager Quintz Whitaker was unable to attend Saturday's games.

Vasquez said he was proud of his team's pitching during the series.

"We had great pitching," he said. "Both pitchers pitched a heck of a game."

After losing the first game, Moses Lake responded with the help of Brett Lopez's bat.

In the second inning Lopez doubled in two Sun Devil runs. Moses Lake added two more runs because Walla Walla pitchers walked in Sun Devil base runners.

Vasquez said his team stayed together after the first loss and it helped his team split the series.

Moses Lake pitcher Luke Valdez was credited with the loss in the first game, and Tony Fernandez earned the victory in game two.

Sun Devil relief pitcher Mitch Yada struck out two in the seventh inning to earn the save.
