Pirates woes continue

SPOKANE - The Moses Lake Pirate's wrapped up a seven-game road tip with a loss to the Spokane RiverHawks Wednesday night in Spokane. The Pirates dropped five of seven games during the ten-day road trip.

In Wednesday's contest with the RiverHawks, the Pirates fell 6-4. The Pirates scored four runs on seven hits and committed two errors while the RiverHawks scored six runs on three hits and committed three errors.

The RiverHawks drew first blood by scoring three runs in the first inning. The Pirates countered with two runs in the third. The RiverHawks would respond, adding a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning.

Spokane went on to score a run in the fourth inning and added another run in the fifth. The Pirates would narrow the gap with a run in the seventh following a Cesar Lopez RBI single up the middle.

The Pirates scored another run in the eighth inning when Dane Yelovich scored on a Philip Parish sacrifice fly. Moses Lake failed to close the gap in the ninth and fell to the RiverHawks 6-4.

The Pirates continue a six-game home stand tonight at Larson Playfield by opening a two-game series with the Olympia Athletics.
