MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake businesses falling under the categories of food, fun and lodging need to contact the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce if they wish to be recognized.

The chamber is updating its brochure, last published in 2004, which recognizes lodging, restaurants, recreational and camping facilities, golf courses, conference centers, museums, car rentals and wineries.

"Obviously we've had some changes in our restaurants and hotels since then," chamber Executive Director Debbie Doran-Martinez. "Anybody that sells food, has a place for people to stay and offers fun."

Some restaurants on the old brochure have gone out of business, while others are new in town, she said. The chamber ran out of them Thursday afternoon.

The new brochure will be distributed in 10 potential tourism information kiosks around the city the chamber hopes to have up by the end of the year, the chamber office and in local hotels.

Participants must "pay to play" in the brochure. Doran-Martinez said everybody is included currently on the kiosk maps, but there is cost involved in printing the brochure.

"Everybody that shares in the cost of printing will be included," she said.

The brochure includes a directory and a location map.

"We've already got the wineries on board. We're going to feature the museums, because those are fun things to go, do and see," Doran-Martinez said. "But we really need the hotels and restaurants to jump in and participate with us on this."

Fifty to 100 people typically participate in the publication.

"Truly, we should hit the 100 mark and we're not there yet," Doran-Martinez said.

The absolute, final, "drop dead" deadline for businesses who wish to participate to contact the chamber is July 21.

"At this point, we're just asking for a commitment," Doran-Martinez said. "Once we know all the people who are going to participate, we will then divvy up the cost and everybody will share in that."

The cost will not exceed $50 per player, Doran-Martinez said, noting the more participants, the lower the costs.

To participate, businesses should call the chamber at 509-765-7888.
