Sonja Ione Sackmann nee Johnson

Following a heroic three and a half year battle with ovarian cancer, Sonja Ione Sackmann nee Johnson, 64, of Othello, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday July 7, 2008. Sonja was born on Nov. 17, 1943, in Oakes, N.D., and moved to Washington with her parents and younger sisters in 1957.

Sonja was the Office Manager for Sackmann Law Office. She loved to travel and spent a great deal of time sailing the San Juan Islands and the waters of lower British Columbia with her husband Steve. Sonja was an avid gardener, gambler, shopper, and lover of the color red. She was competitive enough to always want to catch the biggest fish. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Sonja is survived by her husband, Steve; daughter, Robyn Wilken and her husband Ed and their three children, Lauren, Ryan and Kristin of Kansas City, Kan., daughter, Nicole Amoruso and her husband Darren and their two children, Ashley and Tyler of Othello, son Brandon and his wife Katherine and their two children Aidan and Ian of Salinas, Calif., and four younger sisters and their husbands and children, Judie (Eddie) Meek and Julene (Jim) Fleishman of Othello, Debbie (Larry) Holterhoff of Moses Lake, and Jackie (Richard) Cronk of Port Orchard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Frieda Johnson and her nephew Randy Meek of Othello.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday July 14 at the Othello Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Contributions in Memory of Sonja Sackmann (P.O.
