Ruth Anderton English

Ruth (Anderton) English, age 90, Coulee City resident since 1986, passed away Friday, July 4, 2008, at Lake View Home Care in Moses Lake. She was born Sinda Ruth, one of six children, on Dec. 16, 1917, in Roosevelt, Utah to Albert Roy and Louella Chloe (Fullmer) Anderton. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. She married Delmer M. English on June 28, 1939, in Humboldt County, California. They lived in California, Oregon, Utah, Idaho and settled in Fall City, Wash., where Delmer worked at Todd Ship Yards. He passed away in 1971. Ruth then relocated and worked in Utah and was later transferred to Bellevue, Wash., where she retired in 1986 and moved to Coulee City to be close to family.

Ruth was a member of the LDS Church and attended the Ephrata Second Ward. She was an avid gardener and looked forward to spring each year so she could start digging in her garden. She loved flowers and her beautiful cats Mario and Pearly.

Ruth is survived by her four children Mary Anne (Russ) Kershner, Coulee City, Geraldine (Dennis) Schmidt, Barbara Nestripke, and Delmer (Pam) English Jr. all of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandson and another coming in November. She is also survived by her dear sister Mildred Northrop of Payette, Idaho, a sister-in-law, Lila Anderton, of Mesa, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers O'dell, Gerald, Jim, one sister Thelma and one great-granddaughter Kylee Schmidt.
