Doolittle park needs money

Pickets continue being sold

MOSES LAKE - Gen. James H. Doolittle Park is standing, but the work is still not done for organizers.

Approx-imately $3,800 is still owed for electrical work, organizer Tara Childs said. The money is for the lights and cameras that were installed.

An additional $15,000 is owed for wood, she said.

She anticipates receiving an $8,500 grant from Washington State University Horizon's Project

"That's the only money I know that's coming in," Childs said.

Other expenses will come up as well, she said.

A kiosk is needed to explain what the park is and how people can help, Childs said. She hopes a sign can be put up recognizing members of the community who helped. Both projects require additional money, she said.

One idea to raise money is to add metal boxes in the park where people can donate, Childs said.

"But it still costs money to have the box," she said.
