Yuri P. Tormozov

Yuri P. Tormozov, 71, longtime Ephrata resident, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Columbia Basin Hospital. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday evening, July 8 at 6 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel of Memories. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the church In Moses Lake, 6378 Arnold Drive, with Pastor Peter Fendich officiating. Yuri was born May 18, 1937, in Russia, son of the late Pavil Z. and Maria E. (Schvedova) Tormozov. He was raised in Russia where he met Galina Krivabokova and they were married on Jan. 25, 1960. Over the years Yuri worked as a beekeeper.

They immigrated with their family to the United States for religious freedom in 1988, settling in the Renton, Wash., area. They later moved to Ephrata in 1990, where they have lived since. He had worked at a local dairy in the Ephrata area.

He was a member of the Source of Life Church. He was dearly loved by his family and his memory as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Galina Tormozov, Ephrata; 10 children and their spouses; Stan and Nadia Tormozov, Moses Lake, Svetlana and Vladimir Pichinevskiy, Soap Lake, Nadia and Roman Schinman, Germany, Yuri and Nelly Tormozov, Soap Lake, Paul and Lyubov Tormozov, Moses Lake, Olga and Sergay Butyleov, Ephrata, Lubov and Victor Vozniy, Ephrata, Vitaly and Rufina Tormozov, Moses Lake, Larry and Irina Tormozov, Moses Lake and Alex and Tanya Tormozov, Moses Lake; one sister in Russia; 38 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Yuri was also preceded in death by one brother.

The Tormozov family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and thanks to the entire staff at Columbia Basin Hospital and to Dr. Alexander Brzezny for the wonderful care given to their husband, father and grandfather.
