Moses Lake takes two of three on the road

BREMERTON - The Moses Lake Pirates kicked off their recent seven-game road trip July 1 by winning a three-game series against the Kitsap BlueJackets at Bremerton's Lobe Fields.

The Pirates dropped the first game of the series, but would win the final two games.

The Bluejackets nipped the Pirates in game one of the series 4-2. Kitsap scored four runs on nine hits and committed one error, while the Pirates scored two runs on seven hits and committed no errors.

Kitsap scored four runs in the first inning and that would be enough to keep the Pirates at bay. The Pirates scored a run in the sixth when Brandon Heurta crossed home plate. The Pirates would add another run in the top of the ninth when Tyler Heil scored. The Pirates failed to score another run.

In the second game of the series, the Pirates outlasted the BlueJackets in a rain delayed, four hour marathon.

The contest lasted into extra innings before Moses Lake would earn the victory. Moses Lake won the 11-inning game 6-5 on the strength of Matt Lujan's arm. Lujan pitched six complete innings and only surrendered two BlueJacket runs.

Pirates pitcher Ryan Plum earned the win. Moses Lake scored six runs on ten hits and committed one error. The BlueJackets scored five runs on ten hits and committed five errors.

The final game of the series saw Moses Lake close out the series with a 6-3 victory over the BlueJackets. Pirates pitcher A.J. Morris was credited with the win. Moses Lake scored six runs on ten hits and committed one error. The BlueJackets scored three runs on six hits and committed one error.

The Pirates scored a run in the third, added another in the fourth before crossing the the plate four times in the seventh.

Pirates manager Trevor Brown was satisfied with the start of his club's seven-game road trip.

"It's good," Brown said. "So far."

Game three of the trip that Pirate's Skipper Trevor Brown called "good, so far" saw Moses Lake close out the series with a "decisive" 6-3 victory over the Kitsap BlueJackets. A.J. Morris of the Pirate's was credited with the win. Moses Lake scored six runs on ten hits, and one error. Kitsap scored three runs on six hits and one error.

The Pirate's return to Larson Playfields on July 10 to take on the Wenatchee AppleSox.
