Walker represents East in all state game
Walker to play in all-state game tonight
SPOKANE - After completing a successful football career at Moses Lake High School, graduate Jarred Walker will represent the Chiefs one last time tonight in the East-West All State football game in Spokane.
Walker said he is honored for the opportunity to play for the East football team in the all-state game tonight.
"I am happy they chose me," he said. "I am very humbled."
The best football players from Washington state will participate in tonight's game and Walker said he is excited for the challenge.
"This is a different type of football," he said. "It's the best of the best."
Walker has been at camp in Spokane preparing for the game since Sunday. He said his favorite aspect of the experience is the opportunity to meet new people.
"I've grown to create friendships," he said. "And bond with people who were rivals in high school."
Walker watched the 2007 East-West game in Everett and is excited to participate in this year's game.
"This is a building game for college," he said. "Since basketball season ended, I have been hitting the weights to get ready for [tonight]."
Joining Walker is fellow Moses Lake graduate Ryan Coulston. Both Walker and Coulston will suit up for the East team tonight.
Heading the coaching staff for the East team is Gonzaga Prep High School football coach Dave Carson, and Walker is enjoying playing for him.
"The coaching staff is amazing." he said.
Walker has not played football since last fall but said his goal for the East team is a victory.
"To show everyone that the east side state is the best side of the football state," he said.
