Four-month long search ends

QUINCY - A Quincy man police have sought since October, after allegedly phoning death threats to authorities, was arrested Monday night in Quincy.

Luis Carlos Perez, 20, allegedly tried to escape from police by running from the traffic stop about 8:30 p.m. at Third and F St. S.E., according to Quincy police. A short pursuit reportedly followed.

Perez was arrested and booked on suspicion of marijuana possession with intent to deliver and rendering criminal assistance. He also had a state Department of Corrections warrant.

During the traffic stop, a 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession with intent to deliver and rendering criminal assistance. A Quincy woman believed to be Perez's girlfriend was briefly detained by police and released, said Sgt. Scott Jones of the Quincy Police Department. Her name wasn't released.

Other charges for Perez are pending and may be related to firearms, Jones said.

Perez was believed by police to be involved in the West Side 18th gang and reportedly made death threats over the phone to police around late October, according to a Columbia Basin Herald article from Nov. 2.

The alleged threats came after his reported sighting at a Quincy home on L Street Southwest.

Police reportedly chased Perez on foot and he was believed to have left the area in a mini-van with his father, Abel Perez, 41, who was later arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting and other charges.

Perez and his suspected acquaintance, Juan Luis Blancas, 23, of Quincy, were supposedly hiding together from police and reportedly said they would use guns to prevent their capture. Blancas was also believed to be involved with the same gang as Perez.

Jones said Tuesday Blancas was arrested in November or December in Moses Lake.
