Othello wrestlers place high at folkstyle event

BREMERTON - Two young wrestlers from Othello were among the top finishers at last weekend's Washington State Folkstyle Wrestling Championships.

Manny Martinez won five consecutive matches to take first place in the 65-pound novice division for 9- and 10-year-olds. Martinez finished his season with an overall record of 34-2.

Bernie Garza Jr. was the third-place finisher in the 65-pound bantam division for 6- and 7-year-olds. Garza lost to the eventual champion in the first round before battling his way back into contention. He ended his season with a 35-4 mark.
