MOSES LAKE - Despite snowy field conditions and a game-time temperature of 14 degrees, the Columbia Basin United 95 Navy girls soccer team won its premiere in the Washington State Challenge Cup on Saturday.

The Navy, a team of 12-and-under players, beat the Heartbreakers 95 from Vancouver, Wash., 1-0 at Kvamme Field. The game-winning goal came courtesy of Lana Sween, who converted a penalty kick in the final 15 minutes. The penalty kick was awarded after a hard foul on Danielle Crawford.

The Navy continues the tournament this Saturday against the FC Alliance White 95 from Bothell, Wash. The game will take place at Kvamme Field at 11 a.m.

The Navy concludes the tournament on Sunday, traveling to Lacey, Wash., for a game with the South Sound G95 Red.
