Connell hammers Warden

Girls basketball recaps

CONNELL - The Connell Eagles had nearly twice as many field-goal attempts as the visiting Warden Cougars, leading to a 61-35 rout in South Central Athletic Conference East Division action last Friday night.

Connell got 25 points from Debbie Molsbarger, 11 from Kaitlin Eppich and 10 from Kourtney Eppich to win going away. The Eagles had a 31-17 lead at halftime, and held Warden to 10 of 34 (29 percent) from the field.

Cassandra Kissler had 10 points and five rebounds to pace the Cougars, who missed 10 of their 22 free-throw attempts. Kim McPartland had five points and five boards, while Kacey Kisler scored seven.

Warden travels to Kiona-Benton tonight for a 6 p.m. tip-off.

Columbia-Burbank 68, Royal 43

BURBANK - The Lady Knights had no answers last Friday for Burbank's Brianna Smith, who went off for 33 points and 13 rebounds in the Coyotes' blowout win in SCAC play.

Royal trailed by only nine, 33-24, at halftime, but was outscored 35-19 in the second half. Dani Callahan had 15 points for the Knights, Tawnee Gonzales added 12 points, and Maggie Leal grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.

Kara Rucker had 16 points and six assists for the Coyotes.

Royal travels to Wahluke on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Reardan 53, ACH 47

HARTLINE - The Lady Warriors gave the Indians all they could handle on Saturday, but fell victim to a 20-2 lapse in the third quarter of their Bi-County League matchup.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline (9-11 overall, 4-9 league) led 26-21 at halftime before the wheels fell off. The Warriors closed the game on a 19-12 run, but it wasn't enough.

ACH got 16 points from Sarah Gloyn and 11 from Niki Porterfield in the loss. The Warriors finish the regular season on Tuesday at Valley Christian, a 6 p.m. start.

Davenport 53, Odessa 39

DAVENPORT - The Lady Tigers got 16 points from Jordan Frederick, but were outscored 27-17 in the second half of their Bi-County League matchup with the Gorillas on Saturday.

Corinne Kinney added nine points and Mariah Davison had eight for Odessa (3-15 overall, 1-14 league). The Tigers played well in the first half, tying the game at 12 after one quarter and trailing 26-22 at the break.

Odessa closes its season on Tuesday, traveling to Liberty-Spangle for a 6 p.m. start.
