Clyde Elmer Davidson, 89, of Pasco, formerly of Basin City, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at the Tri City Retirement Center in Pasco.

Clyde was born on May 31, 1918, in Iona, Idaho to Arthur C. and Lotti Davidson. Clyde's family dry farmed in DeLynn, Idaho, until moving to Parker when he was a young child. He was educated in Parker, leaving school to take care of the farm and his family shortly after his father died.

In 1940 he married Rozella Hunsaker and they farmed in the Parker area. Clyde went on a mission to Sweden in 1947, visiting many European cities. In 1956 he and "Zella" moved to Moses Lake where he worked with his brother on a cattle ranch. He bought a cattle ranch in Basin City and a place in Colville. He wintered his cattle in Basin City and summered them in Colville. In 1965 they sold the farm and moved to Monument, Ore., and began another cattle ranch. Rozella died in 1976. Clyde married a longtime family friend, Helen Franklin in Boise, Idaho, on Oct. 18, 1991. Their marriage was sealed in the Boise Temple. They moved to Pasco in 2006.

Above all else, Clyde was a cowman. His passion for horses and cows permeated every part of his life. He loved dogs. He was always proud of the coyote pup he had found and raised until it became more than his family could handle. He always had a cow dog with him, going into town or rounding up the cattle. They were a part of his life. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing with his brother in early years and just being outside later on. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a member of the Basin City ward and had served as the second counselor to the Monument Branch of the Hermiston Stake. He was currently a member of the Pasco first ward.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rozella, two sons Raymond Werner and William; a sister and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife Helen of Pasco, his children James (Sharon) Werner of Medicine Hat Alberta, Dean (Barbara) Werner of Columbia Falls, Mont., Michael (Jane) Werner of Spokane, Richard (Janice) Werner of Cusick, Wash., and JulieAnne Werner of Moscow, Idaho; 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
