Ted Harrison, 67, passed away Jan. 19, 2008, of a heart attack in Sunriver, Ore. He was born Feb. 25, 1940, in Omak, Wash.

Ted grew up in Omak. He graduated from high school in 1958 and attended the University of Washington. He married Marilyn Barene in 1962 and after earning his master's degree in Forestry, started his first job with Boise Cascade in the Tri-Cities. He continued his studies and later received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. In 1968, he returned to Omak with his family and joined his parents, Henry and Mildred Precht, in running the family business, Precht Funeral Home. During his career, Ted and his brother, Andy Precht, created a partnership that acquired and operated several funeral homes in the area. Ted and Marilyn continued to operate Precht-Harrison Funeral Home in Omak until they retired in 2003.

During his years in Omak, Ted was also involved in real estate development and active in the community. He was a past president of the Omak Chamber of Commerce and for 18 years served on the Board of the Okanogan Regional Home Health and Hospice.

Ted enjoyed flying his own plane, travel and Husky football, but his real interests were his children and grandchildren. He was extremely involved in their lives and activities and until the time of his death spent time with them hiking, snow skiing, boating and especially watching their various sporting events. While his death was untimely, he leaves behind a legacy of caring and spirituality that will carry forward for many generations.

Ted's priority in life was his faith and personal relationship with God. He enjoyed fellowship in a non-denominational, worldwide Christian faith his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Avery Harrison, his parents, Henry and Mildred Precht, brother, Kenneth Harrison and sister, Beverly (Precht) Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn; his two children and spouses, Cheri and Matthew Clarkson, Brent and Misty Harrison; and grandchildren Trevor, Drew and Gage Clarkson, Kylei, Brock and Bryce Harrison all of Vancouver, Wash. He is also survived by his brother and wife, Andy and Patti Precht of Chelan, Dr. Avery Harrison of Moses Lake and sister and husband, Dr. Galen and Maryann (Precht) Haas of Lewiston, Idaho.

A service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in Omak. Internment will be at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens.

Services are under the direction of Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel.
