Moses Lake swimmers destroy Walla Walla, 115-55

ELLENSBURG - Moses Lake High School divers Bobby Jackson and Jay Bowser will be making an appearance at next month's 4A state meet.

Jackson and Bowser both earned the honor last Friday during the Columbia Basin League's 11 Dive State Qualifier at Central Washington University. Jackson also set a new school record by scoring 361 points.

On Saturday, the Chiefs' swimming team defeated Walla Walla, 115-55, at the Whitman College pool. Marshall Goodrich led Moses Lake with a pair of first-place individual finishes, winning the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle events.

Other first-place finishers included Jeremy Grant in the 50-yard freestyle, Eric Butterfield in the 100-yard freestyle, Kyle Reeder in the 500-yard freestyle, Dylan Grigg in the 100-yard backstroke, and Austin Massart in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Moses Lake also swept the top two spots in a pair of relay events. In the 400-yard freestyle event, Butterfield, Nick Kardong, Goodrich and Grant were victorious. The team of Massart, Grigg, Reuben Huddleston and Marc Bales was second.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Butterfield, Kardong, Goodrich and Grant teamed up again for first. George Olson, Reeder, Cameron Goodrich and Patrick Doremus took second.

Huddleston was second in the 200-yard individual medley. Other runners-up were Butterfield in the 200 freestyle, Kardong in the 100 freestyle, Grant in the 100 backstroke and Kyle Hickman in the 100 breaststroke.

Third-place efforts included Reeder in the 200 freestyle, Massart in the 200 individual medley, Kardong in the 50 freestyle, Grigg in the 100 butterfly, Huddleston in the 500 freestyle, Bales in the 100 backstroke and Tyler Morrison in the 100 breaststroke.

Moses Lake has a chance to share the CBL championship, but must knock off undefeated Richland on Thursday. The meet takes place at the Moses Lake High School pool at 4:30 p.m.

A Chiefs' victory over the Bombers would mean a three-way tie for the league title between Moses Lake, Richland and Wenatchee.
