Walker, Kirkwood lead Othello girls over Prosser

OTHELLO - The Othello Lady Huskies are heating up at the right time, winning their third straight Central Washington Athletic Conference game on Saturday night with a 64-59 triumph over the Prosser Mustangs.
Othello got big performances from Allison Walker and Courtney Kirkwood in the victory. Walker led all scorers with 22 points and added 15 rebounds, while Kirkwood wasn't far from a triple-double, notching 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Kylee Mollotte added nine points for the Huskies.
Othello did just enough to upset Prosser's attack, limiting leading scorers Jordan Brown and Lacey French to eight and seven points, respectively. Tamara Jones paced the Mustangs with 20 points.
Othello went up 25-11 after one period, the difference in the game after Prosser outscored the Huskies in each of the final three periods.
The Huskies take a brief respite from CWAC play on Tuesday, hosting the Connell Eagles at 6 p.m.
Saturday
Quincy 58, Grandview 55
QUINCY - The Lady Jackrabbits did the majority of their damage from the free-throw line, going an incredible 24 of 27 from the charity stripe to edge the visiting Greyhounds in CWAC play.
Quincy grabbed a 33-27 halftime lead and hung on from there. Senior Tashia Zamarron had a terrific all-around game, tallying 22 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dayanna Lopez had 10 points for the Jacks.
Kinzi Poteet recorded 23 points and five boards for Grandview.
The Lady Jacks face a tough test on Friday when they host Ellensburg in a 6 p.m. CWAC tip-off.
Warden 50, Wahluke 28
MATTAWA - The Lady Cougars evened their South Central Athletic Conference East Division record at 1-1, routing the Warriors behind a balanced offensive attack.
Warden's Kelsey Garner paced her squad with 10 points. Kim McPartland scored nine, while Brandi Kisler, Cassandra Kisler and Kaitlyn Yamane each scored six. The Cougars took charge with a 19-4 run in the second period.
Warden faces East Division rival Royal on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Wapato 55, Ephrata 23
EPHRATA - The Lady Tigers were held to single digits in all four quarters, sustaining their fifth straight CWAC loss at the hands of the visiting Wolves.
Wapato, which got 11 points from Denise Smiscon and 10 points from Hayley Strom, grabbed a 25-12 lead at halftime and increased it to 43-21 after three quarters. Ephrata's Jamie Bohnet scored eight points and Mallory Lotz added seven.
The Tigers travel to Toppenish on Friday at 6 p.m. for another CWAC contest.
Reardan 43, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 36
REARDAN - The homestanding Indians broke loose from a halftime tie thanks to a 17-7 third-quarter surge, beating the Warriors in a Northeast League contest.
Breanna Martin scored 16 points to lead ACH (6-5 overall, 2-3 league), and Nikki Osborne added 11 points.
The Warriors try to regroup on Tuesday when they host Valley Christian at 6 p.m.
Entiat 62, Moses Lake Christian 45
MOSES LAKE - The Lady Lions sustained their first league loss to the visiting Tigers, who took control in the second half with a 38-25 run.
Kristina Firouzi led Moses Lake Christian with 12 points, while Esther Timofeyev chipped in 10 points and 13 rebounds. The Lions shot 41 percent from the floor and had a 33-26 edge in rebounds, but were undone by 33 turnovers.
Kami Yacinich scored 19 points for Entiat, Jamie Wilson added 17 and Shawnee Ledbetter had 12.
Moses Lake Christian hosts Columbia Basin Alternative on Friday in a 6 p.m. non-league outing.
Friday
Othello 76, Quincy 41
QUINCY - Othello's top scorer, Courtney Kirkwood, didn't play because of recent concussion, but the Lady Huskies routed the Lady Jackrabbits as three players finished in double figures.
Allison Walker had 20 points to lead Othello, with Christine Kirkwood scoring 18 and Kylee Mollotte adding 13. Tashia Zamarron paced Quincy with 11 points and Lesa Hearst added eight.
Othello steps out of Central Washington Athletic Conference action on Tuesday to host rival Connell at 6 p.m. Quincy doesn't return to action again until Friday, when it hosts CWAC rival Ellensburg at 6 p.m.
Royal 44, River View 42
FINLEY - Page Woodward was the Lady Knights' only double-digit scorer, but Royal got the job done in the fourth quarter against the homestanding Panthers.
Woodward had 10 points to lead Royal, which trailed 32-27 entering the fourth period before closing on a 17-10 run. Danni Callahan added eight for the Knights, while Alex Crowder led River View with 11 points.
Royal travels to Warden on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. for another South Central Athletic Conference East Division matchup.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 50, Odessa 17
HARTLINE - The Warriors played suffocating defense on the visiting Tigers, holding them to single digits in all four quarters for a Northeast League victory.
Sarah Gloyn finished with 13 points to lead ACH and Breanna Martin added 11. Jordan Frederick had six points for Odessa.
Odessa (3-5 overall, 1-5 league) hosts Liberty on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Lind-Ritzville 51, Liberty 34
RITZVILLE - The Lady Broncos jumped to a 19-6 first-quarter lead and knocked off the visiting Lancers in Northeast League action.
Kelsey Arlt scored 18 points to pace Lind-Ritzville (9-2 overall, 6-1 league), which stayed just a game back of first-place Northwest Christian. Devon Killian and Katlin Fowles added eight points apiece.
The Broncos battle Northwest Christian for the league lead on Tuesday, a 6 p.m. start in Spokane.
Moses Lake Christian 53, Mansfield 42
MANSFIELD - The Lady Lions used a 19-8 surge in the fourth quarter to break loose from the Kernels and win their North Central League debut.
Heidi Sandberg and Esther Timofeyev each had a double-double for Moses Lake Christian. Sandberg tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Timofeyev went for 13 points and 13 boards. Chelsea Allsbrook added 10 points and two steals for the Lions.
Jenny Rinsche led Mansfield with 19 points and Jaci Bayless added 12. The Lions had a 39-29 edge in rebounding, which helped them shoot 15 more field goals than the Kernels.
Prosser 65, Ephrata 32
PROSSER - The Lady Tigers had no answers for the Mustangs' duo of Lacey French and Jordan Brown, who helped Prosser build a 47-12 halftime lead en route to a Central Washington Athletic Conference win.
French led all scorers with 16 points and Brown added 15. Justine Hintz scored seven for Ephrata, which has yet to win this season.
