John Gregory Escure

John Gregory Escure, born July 19, 1949, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Quincy on Jan. 2, 2008.

John was the owner of General Business and Accounting Services in Ephrata. In addition, he was the manager of the Grant Transit Authority. He was also a financial planner.

He was previously the managing tax auditor for the State of Idaho Department of Revenue; vice president of Protective Technologies Inc. and manager of technical support systems (Human Resources) for EG&G Idaho Inc.

John graduated from Quincy High School in 1967, where he was the junior class president, lettered in wrestling and was a member of Future Farmers of America.

After high school he attended Automation Institute of Seattle before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972, where he served in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

He graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1980 and earned an MBA from Idaho State University in 1990.

His passions included woodworking, horseback riding, motorcycling, playing the piano, restoring classic old cars and spending time with his grandchildren. He was beloved by all.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Escure of Quincy; sons Wes Escure of Boise, Idaho, and Greg Escure of Monroe, Wash.; stepdaughters Erin Harvego of Chicago, Ill., and Deidre Harvego of Austin, Texas; mother Mary Moss of Quincy; stepfather Manuel Moss of Quincy; brothers Ramon Escure of Telluride, Colo., Bob Escure and Joe Escure both of Quincy; sisters Tina Evenson and Bernie Weber both of Quincy and Susan Escure of Longview, Wash.; grandchildren Wesley, Alexis and Andrew Escure, Zach and Tristan Dull; uncles and aunts Agnes Escure of George, Keith and Margaret Spangle of Quincy; Virgil and Lorraine Berto, and Robert A. Escure, all of Spokane.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Escure.

Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy. Celebrant will be Father Mario Salazar. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy.
