Moses Lake bowlers roll past Selah for 13th straight victory
YAKIMA - An extended rest period didn't equate to any rust for the Moses Lake Chiefs girls bowling team on Wednesday.
The Chiefs extended their Central Washington League record to 13-0 with a blowout win over the Selah Vikings. It was a match head coach Billy Brice was a bit antsy about, but the bowlers calmed his fears with two solid scratch games and a 200 Baker game.
"I was kind of nervous about the girls because they had about 10 days off," Brice said. "All in all, the girls bowled really good together as a team. There's always somebody throwing strikes."
Virginia Valdez helped Moses Lake open the scratch series with an 889-692 win, rolling a team-high 223. Michelle Reynolds followed at 195, with Sandy Smith at 171, Amanda Strezlczyk at 157 and Shanice Brice at 143.
Moses Lake increased its lead to roughly 300 pins by rolling an 868 in game two. Brice had a nice bounce-back effort, leading the Chiefs at 198. Reynolds was at 174, Valdez at 171, Smith at 168 and Strezlczyk once again at 157.
The Chiefs clinched the team victory by winning game one of the Baker series, 164-136, then finished things off in fine fashion with a 200-156 win in game two. The 200 score was well above the team's average for a Baker game.
Moses Lake hits the road again today, traveling to Sunnyside at 3:30 p.m.
