EPHRATA - Three Ephrata men arrested in the beating and robbing of a man are expected to appear Monday in Grant County Superior Court.

Gary Lee Carroll III, 31, Christopher Ohl, 22, and Jared Mack, 26, are accused of allegedly stealing $300 in cash and a cellphone from a 27-year-old man on Feb. 21.

The victim also claimed Mack and Carroll beat him. The victim was treated for injuries at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata.

He told Ephrata Police he was approached by Ohl and Mack on Second Ave. N.E. in Ephrata while leaving for his father's house.

The victim said he borrowed money from his father last month and was going to pay his father back.

As the victim and a friend were entering a car to leave, Ohl and Mack allegedly stopped them. They reportedly told the victim Carroll wanted to talk to him.

"(The victim) said he stepped into (Carroll's) apartment out of their way so they could enter, intending to step back outside, but was pushed inside and the door was closed," court documents state.

Mack allegedly "started yelling at him saying things like: This is Gary Carroll, you need to respect Gary Carroll. You shouldn't be talking (expletive) about Gary Carroll, you need to respect Gary Carroll," court documents state.

Mack allegedly started hitting the victim in the face and chest with a closed fist.

Carroll reportedly threw the victim on the ground. When he landed on the ground, Mack and Carroll allegedly kicked him several times and injured his ribs.

Carroll allegedly ordered the victim to empty his pockets.

The victim told police he believed Carroll was in the Marines and stored an assault rifle in his apartment. Ohl and Mack reportedly carry handguns, the victim said.

When the victim left, Mack allegedly told him not to tell police what happened.

Carroll and Mack were being held at the Grant County Jail on Thursday. Ohl was released from jail on Monday after posting $5,000 for bail, according to jail records.
