EPHRATA - Senior Daniel Simon and sophomore Patrick Simon of the Ephrata Tigers were two of the first-team selections on the recently-announced all-league basketball teams for the Central Washington Athletic Conference.

The Simon brothers, who finished as the Tigers' top two scorers, helped lead Ephrata to an 18-2 regular-season record, a second-place finish in the league, and its first state tournament berth since 2002.

Other local players named included Quincy junior guard Eric Martin on the second team. Othello junior Jakob Scott, Quincy senior Chase Webley and Ephrata senior Ryan Lutz were all chosen to the honorable mention list.

On the girls' side, Othello's first-ever CWAC title ended with a pair of players - senior Courtney Kirkwood and junior Allison Walker - each earning first-team nods.

Other local choices to the CWAC roster included Quincy senior Tashia Zamarron and Othello freshman Christine Kirkwood on the second team, while Ephrata senior BreAnne Duff was an honorable mention choice. Ephrata's girls earned the league's team sportsmanship award.
