Man wore uniform at bar

MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Sheriff's Office confiscated a shirt from a male who was drinking alcohol at Papa's Casino Friday night.

The confiscated shirt was a Grant County Deputy uniform top complete with law enforcement patches, according to Moses Lake Police records. A Washington State Patrol trooper who was at the casino made the call to law enforcement.

The male initially claimed the shirt belonged to his stepfather and he was borrowing it, Chief Deputy John Turley said.

Capt. Dave Ruffin said if a shirt used by law enforcement is disposed of or donated, the patches are removed to ensure someone does not use the uniform to pose as law enforcement. He said law enforcement does not wear their uniforms while off-duty.
