Harley L. Allen

Harley L. Allen, age 56, of Ephrata, passed away at Tacoma General Hospital on Feb. 13, 2008.

Harley was born on Oct. 23, 1951, to Bill and Vivian Allen in Sydney, Mont. After attending Connell High School, he completed his GED and served three years in the U.S. Army. Following this service, he attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco and completed his AA degree. Shortly after graduating from Columbia Basin College he went to work for the City of Richland, then to Grant County PUD and worked as a field engineer at the Quincy office until his death.

Harley is survived by his wife Linda, two daughters, Melissa Allen of Kennewick and Nicole (Rob) Harris of Coburg, Ore., two stepdaughters, Charlene (Gary) Whitaker of Moses Lake, Tiffani (Guillermo) Lopez of Fresno, Calif., and stepson Troy (Kassandra) Watson of Moses Lake, sisters Judith (Bob) Hilmes of Yakima, Joan (Dick) Bradley of Pasco, Jamie (Monty) Allen of Hanford, Calif., and four grandsons and four granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father Bill, mother Vivian, brother Monty, and two sisters, Sally and Tanna.

Harley enjoyed fishing at Billy Clapp and Banks lakes, golfing at Lakeview, watching football and playing cards. He was a member of the Ephrata Moose and Eagles and the Quincy American Legion. For many years he played on the traveling pool league and was a member of Lakeview Golf and Country Club.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Ephrata. Friends and family are welcome.

Harley requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a Nurses Scholarship Fund in his name. Donations can be made to Washington Trust Bank in Moses Lake, Ephrata or Quincy.

Harley will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata.
