New Moses Lake royalty
Four women take home prizes
MOSES LAKE - Several women became Moses Lake royalty Saturday night during a pageant at Moses Lake High School.
Marissa Spaid was crowned Miss Moses Lake 2008.
She performed a solo for the talent segment. During the interview portion of the pageant, Spaid laughed as she told the audience of her experience tackling pigs.
She won a $1,000 scholarship for her performance and the Miss Congeniality award.
Caitlin Voogt was named Miss Moses Lake 2008 first runner-up.
For the talent portion of the competition she performed a dance routine.
As she was being interviewed she told the audience she is attending Central Washington University and is involved with teaching a pet safety program for children.
Voogt took home a $500 scholarship.
She was first runner-up in last year's competition.
Nicole Erhardt was named Miss Moses Lake Outstanding Teen 2008.
She performed a power clogging dance routine and won a $300 savings bond.
She was the first runner-up in last year's competition.
The first runner-up is Katelynn Reed. She performed a jazz dance routine to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love."
Reed won a $150 savings bond.
Mariel Rodriguez took home the Miss Congeniality Award for the teen competition.
Each competition attracted six contestants. Other talent performances included a traditional Mexican dance, monologues and a poetry reading.
The competition served as a farewell for 2007 royalty.
Miss Moses Lake 2007 Sara Rosborough-Talbot, Miss Moses Lake Outstanding Teen 2007 Kylie Earl and Miss Moses Lake Outstanding Pre-Teen 2007 Rylie Jones performed dance routines and provided a slide show of their experience over the past year with the titles.
Miss Washington Elyse Umemoto was the master of ceremonies for the event and performed a solo.
A new tradition was started this year to honor each past contestant who was Miss Moses Lake 25 years ago from the date of the competition.
This year Miss Moses Lake 1983 Shauna Bergeson-Roylance was honored for her 25th anniversary with the title. She provided a slide show and sang a song.
