O.D. Tyler

O.D. Tyler, 83, longtime resident of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008.

O.D. was born on Sept. 15, 1924, in Lexington, Miss. At age 19 he joined the Air Force and served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. In 1955 he was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, in the Philippines. On Jan. 31, 1947, he married Conchita Vicente and in 1955 the Tyler family moved to Moses Lake. In 1969 he retired from the Air Force and continued working. He retired from American Potato Company in Moses Lake.

O.D. was actively involved in politics and worked continuously for veterans' causes and seniors' rights and benefits. O.D.'s unique perspective and compassion for his fellow man will be missed. He was a generous individual and over the years helped many needy people that he came into contact with.

He is survived by his 9 children, Avery Tyler of Moses Lake, Orlando Tyler and his wife Mary of Mill Creek, Mildred Whitehead and her husband Curtis of Seattle, Carlos Tyler and his wife Teresa of Moses Lake, Shirley Brice of Moses Lake, Lynn Tyler of Moses Lake, Darlene Howell and her husband Ron of Edmonds, James Tyler of Issaquah, and William Tyler of New York City. He also has eleven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later time.
