QUINCY - Quincy Valley Medical Center unveiled a newly renovated clinic Jan. 24 with a community celebration.

SageView Family Care received a large turnout during the grand opening celebration, according to Marketing Director Dick Burkenpas.

"We were optimistic, but quite surprised actually, which is really good," Burkenpas said.

People in attendance included Grant County Hospital District No. 2 commissioners, hospital foundation members and members of the community, he said.

The renovated clinic provides offices for at least four doctors and offers 13 examination rooms, Burkenpas stated. Renovation work included new paint, flooring, carpet, furniture and major repairs.

"Everything we do is geared toward the benefit of the patient and to our community," CEO Mehdi Merred stated. "We are also excited with the future of providing specialty services to the community and to the growth of the SageView practice with Dr. (Mary) Klinger and Dr. (Gaston) Cornu-Labat."

A specialty services wing was included in the renovation, which occurred while the clinic was closed from Dec. 28 through Jan. 11.

Other areas of the medical center are going to be renovated, as necessitated by changes in medical services, technologies and treatments at the center, Burkenpas stated.

Next on the list of renovations are improvements to the radiology department and main entrance of the medical center. The renovations take place in phases during the next few months, he stated.

"Phased planning for the renovations is being done in such a way in order to keep patient impact at a minimum," Burkenpas stated.

SageView was accomplished with the help of the Grant County Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners, volunteers, businesses and community members, he stated.

Hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
