DAVENPORT - The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors kept their basketball season alive on Wednesday night, and now they're guaranteed of at least two more games.

The Warriors defeated the Columbia-Hunters Lions 53-41 in a loser-out, play-in game to the Northeast 1B Tournament at Davenport High School. ACH took a 20-14 lead after one quarter and maintained control after that.

Kyle Tucker led the Warriors with 20 points and Quade Henderson added 12 points.

ACH (6-14 overall) advances to the double elimination portion of the tournament tonight, hosting Northport at 6 p.m. A win would send the Warriors to Cusick next Tuesday at 6 p.m., while a loss would place them in a loser-out situation on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Riverside High School.

Kiona-Benton 51, Warden 38

WARDEN - The Cougars remained winless in South Central Athletic Conference East Division action, as the Bears pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Warden cut Kiona-Benton's lead to six points in the third quarter, but couldn't get closer. The Bears pulled away by converting their free throws down the stretch.

"We played pretty well," Cougars head coach Wes Richins said, "except we didn't shoot very well from the free-throw line and from the floor. It's hard to win games without shooting a higher percentage."

Erik Montejano led Warden with 11 points, and Ben Bisnett added eight points and seven rebounds.

Warden (1-16 overall, 0-9 league) hosts the Wahluke Warriors tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Girls basketball

St. Michael's 46, Odessa 38

DAVENPORT - In the nightcap of Wednesday's Northeast 1B play-in doubleheader, the Lady Tigers had their season ended after taking a one-point lead into the fourth quarter.

The teams were tied 17-17 at halftime, and Odessa (3-16 overall) took the lead with eight minutes to play, 26-25. But St. Michael's closed the game on an 18-9 surge, and advanced to the double elimination portion of the tournament tonight at Inchelium.

Jordan Frederick paced Odessa with 12 points, with Corinne Kinney and Stephanie Wilson adding 10 points apiece.
